Hall of Fame
The Voorhees College National Alumni Hall of Fame aims to recognize and honor Voorhees College graduates who have made significant contributions to the college and society.
Nominees must be alumni of Voorhees College, Voorhees Junior College, Voorhees High School or Voorhees Industrial School. Nominees are sought each year in athletics, arts and entertainment, business, education, government and law, the military, religion and science. No more than four people are inducted annually, though. Nominees must be present at the induction ceremony to receive the award. The honorees are presented with an award and a portrait is placed on the Wall of Fame Gallery housed in Massachusetts Hall.
Nominations should be sent to the president of the National Alumni Association or the Director of Alumni Affairs by Aug. 15 each year. Nominations must include the nominee’s name and address, a brief biographical sketch, and a concise description of the achievements upon which the nomination is based.
The following areas are assessed when evaluating nominees:
- Achievements that have strengthened Voorhees College and advanced its purpose.
- Achievements that have enhanced the nominee’s reputation at a local, regional, national or international level.
- Achievements that have contributed to public appreciation of Voorhees College.
- Achievements in the nominee’s field that benefited others at a regional, national, or international level.
