Track & Field
Last year was a successful record-breaking year for the Tigers on the track with members of the women and men’s teams representing Voorhees on a national level. For the women, junior Raven White made a statement by qualifying for the Indoor and Outdoor Nationals. White ran her all-time best in the 200-meter race (24.5) breaking Voorhees’ record and being the first female runner to qualify for Indoor and Outdoor Nationals.
The
men’s team finished in the top 20 for Indoor and Outdoor Nationals and made the
top five in the Eastern Region. To lead
the men’s team was Jeffery Pendergrass who gave an amazing performance last
year by qualifying for the Indoor and Outdoor Nationals in the 100-meter and
200-meter race. From hard work and dedication, Pendergrass gave Voorhees
College its first ever NAIA National Indoor and Outdoor championship with
record-breaking times. He won the 200-meter race and placed sixth out of 30
competitors in the 100-meter with a time of 10:56. Earlier in the season,
Pendergrass qualified for the USA Track & Field Nationals, with a Voorhees
record-breaking time of 20.65 which was hosted on ESPN.
