Student Support Services

Now that you're here at Voorhees College, we want to make sure you stay and finish your degree. That's where the Student Support Services Program comes in, with services ranging from peer help to tutoring to keep you on track.

Student Support Services is designed for first-generation or low-income students or those with disabilities. It's funded by the US Department of Education to help participants earn college educations and is a member of the TRIO family. Students must also be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. There's an application that you can fill out online.

Once you're accepted, you'll have access to a wealth of services designed to see that you earn your diploma. Whether you need to talk about your future with a counselor or whether you need a little extra help in academic subjects, we can find what you need. You'll also have access to computers, as well as the opportunity to join in on cultural activities such as last year's trips to Atlanta that included tours of CNN's studios, Coca Cola headquarters and the Martin Luther King Jr. Center. Students also have visited New York, with activities such as a ride on the Staten Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty, a space show at the Hayden Planetarium-American Museum of Natural History and reflection at Ground Zero and the remnants of The World Trade Center. Students also attended an off-Broadway show and had a chance to take the stage themselves at The Apollo.

Many of the programs you'll find are led by upper class members students just like you who have gone through what you're going through.

We'd be happy to talk to you about either your application or all that Student Support Services has to offer. Just give us a call at (803)-780-1279. If you're on campus, feel free to stop by our office, in Room 103 of the Wilkinson Building.
