eSMART Program

Voorhees College eSmart Day Camp

The Voorhees College High School Environmental Science, Mathematics and Related Technology (eSMART) Day Camp Program is designed to improve Environmental Science education for high school students and increase the number of students pursuing degrees in Environmental Science, Mathematics, Biology, and Computer Science. The VC eSMART Day Camp program provides 3 weeks of full-day enrichment activities with course studies in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields and associated laboratory experiments along with personal development, social development, and recreational activities on the campus of Voorhees College. This program will also include services and strategies that are designed to retain these participants in STEM majors when they matriculate at the College.

PROGRAM DATES
June 28 through July 20, 2012 (interns)
June 29 through July 20, 2012 (high school students)

COST
FREE to students entering grades 9 through 12 who meet the requirements.

STIPEND
Each student will receive a stipend upon successful completion of the program. Attendance at all sessions is required. Students are expected to arrive on time and participate in each camp activity for full compensation.

QUALIFICATIONS
Students entering grades 9 through 12 with enthusiasm for mathematics and science as well as a strong mathematical aptitude are encouraged to apply. You must be a U.S. citizen!!! THE SELECTION PROCESS
Selection is based on a composite review of the student essay, grades, and teacher recommendations. Applications must be postmarked no later than April 30, 2012. While almost anyone can apply, only one (1) applicant per household will be accepted. Upon acceptance, you will receive further information concerning the program.
