Black History Month Celebration - Voorhees College celebrates 50 year anniversary of the March on Washington

On Thursday, Feb. 14 at 11 a.m. beginning in Massachusetts Hall Auditorium, students, faculty, staff, and community participants will gather to view news and documentary clips detailing the events leading up to the historic March on Washington.  Afterwards, Voorhees College students will lead a march reenacting the procession held on that historic day, August 28, 1963.    The students will lead the participants across the campus to the grove where remarks will be given by select special guests.  The symbolic march will pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of the historic March on Washington for jobs and freedom.  The March was one of the key moments of the Civil Rights Movement and is noted for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
