Voorhees College readies for its 2011 Homecoming

Voorhees
College 2011 Homecoming Week, which is Nov. 6-12, will feature various
activities to kick off the basketball game between the Voorhees College Tigers
and the Denmark Technical College Panthers. The 2011 Homecoming theme is “The
VC Legacy: Changing Minds, Changing Lives.”
There will be a Homecoming Comedy Show at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov.8 in Massachusetts Hall. The Homecoming Concert, featuring 2 Chainz, Young Dro and K. Michelle, will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, in the Leonard E. Dawson Health and Human Resources Center.
The Voorhees College Alumni Hall of Fame Banquet will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, in the Leonard E. Dawson Health and Human Resources Center. This year’s Hall of Fame alumni honorees are Dr. Michelle Meekens, class of ’74, Herbert Pittman, class of ’84, Dr. Cleveland L. Sellers, Jr., class of ’62, and Dr. Gerald Wright, class of ’61. An Alumni Mixer will follow the banquet at 9 p.m. in the Foyer of the Leonard E. Dawson Health and Human Resources Center.
Homecoming game day will begin with the 2011 Homecoming Parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, and will follow a route from Maple Street to the Voorhees College Campus. This year, Voorhees has selected Dr. Thelma F. Sojourner, class of ’71, the superintendent of Denmark Olar School District 2, as the parade marshal.
The Voorhees College Lady Tigers will face the Denmark Technical College Lady Panters at 1 p.m. in the Leonard E. Dawson Health and Human Resources Center. The men’s game will begin at 3 p.m. following the women’s game. At 5 p.m., the annual President’s Jazz Buffett will be held in the Cherry Blossom Room of the Cafeteria.
The Homecoming Step Show, featuring performances by Voorhees College’s fraternities and sororities, will be held at 8 p.m. in the Leonard E. Dawson Health and Human Resources Center.
