Voorhees celebrates the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

On Thursday, Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. in Massachusetts Hall Auditorium, Voorhees College will celebrate the life and times of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with James Edward Holiday, pastor of Bushy Pond Missionary Baptist Church in Norway, S.C. This event is free and open to the public. 

Holiday has served as pastor of Bushy Pond Missionary Baptist Church for the past 18 years. Additionally, he has been employed for the past 21 years at Savannah River Site as a class one law enforcement officer.

He is active in civic, community and fraternal activities. He is a life member of the NAACP, a member of the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Department, American Association of Christian Counselors, National Organization for Victim’s Assistance, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. 

Pastor Holiday is married to Sybrenda James Holiday, and they have three children: James Wilson, Brenton Roosevelt and Emily Brendelin Reva Holiday.
