President Sellers' recruitment appeal
August 17, 2012
August 17, 2012
Dear Faculty/Staff, Alumni, and Friends:
The Academic School year 2012-2013 has officially begun. We have received our freshman class; however, we are still accepting applications for the current academic year. In efforts to reach our enrollment goal, we are calling upon the Voorhees College family to aid in recruitment efforts of good reliable students from your communities, churches and social gatherings.
This weekend is a great time to begin with a deadline of Friday, August 24th at which time registration closes. We urgently are requesting a mass recruitment effort to sustain our enrollment, to ensure that the college will remain fiscally sound and to strengthen our already incredible student body.
We are seeking a minimum of fifty (50) additional students that will have an opportunity to pursue degrees in our various majors. This fall, Emergency Management, Environmental Science, African American Studies and Child Development have been added as new majors to our already competitive curriculum. Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, the institutionís Emergency Management program will be the first in the state of South Carolina at a historically black college/university.
Potential students should contact:
Mr. Benjamin Watson, Admissions Director
430 Porter Road
Denmark, South Carolina
I thank you in advance and appreciate everything you do and will continue to do for this great institution, our dear Voorhees College.
Cleveland L. Sellers, Jr., Ed.D
