February 26, 2014

Voorhees College will host a gospel explosion on Sunday, March 2 at 5 p.m. in Massachusetts Hall Auditorium on campus. The event is free and open to the public.

The gospel explosion will feature Rachel Jones and God’s Favor of Fairfax, S.C., the Inspirational Mass Choir of Greeleyville, S.C. and a special guest, Solid Rock Church Choir of Scotia, S.C., Minister Rosemary Griffin and the Voorhees College Gospel Choir and Voorhees College praise dancers.

This gospel explosion is the concluding event for the institution’s series of events that were planned during or around Black History Month.

“It is important for us to plan events for our students to celebrate Black History Month,” said Samuel Blackwell, chief of staff. “Our students must never forget the struggle that our ancestors had in order for them to be enrolled in an institution of higher education today.”
