Sutton to be crowned Miss Voorhees College 2010-2011

Nina E. Sutton will be crowned Miss Voorhees College 2010-2011 on Friday, September 17 in the Leonard E. Dawson Health and Human Resources Center at 7 p.m. The theme for the coronation is "A Testament to Royalty." The public is invited to attend the ceremony.  

Sutton, who is from Bronx, N.Y.., is the 20-year-old daughter of Tyrone Small and Jennifer White-Small. Sutton is currently majoring in biology, and she plans to attend State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry after graduating from Voorhees in May 2011.

"I am honored and humbled to hold the title as Miss Voorhees College," Sutton said. "This institution has provided me with numerous opportunities for growth and improvement."  

Sutton has been involved in various activities and organizations since enrolling at Voorhees. Some of her organizational memberships include: the Student Government Association, concert choir, Ernest Everett Just Science Club, E.E. Wright Drama Guild, TEAM Foundation, Pre-Alumni Council and Minorities in Agriculture, and Natural Related Resources and Sciences (MANRRS). She is also a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated.

"Toward the end of my term, I hope to fulfill every aspect of my platform 'Becoming, Erudite, Leaders, In Every Voyage and Endeavor (B.E.L.I.E.V.E),'" Sutton said.

"Through my platform, I plan on providing students with the confidence they need to enhance their lives through various workshops. I want to ensure that I have inspired students that hard work and perseverance truly pays off."
