Bridge Program
Overview
South Carolina, as with the entire global community, is embarking upon a mission to increase participation by all groups in all aspects of a knowledge and technology-based economy. The Voorhees Bridge program has a particular mission to ensure that students of Voorhees are competitive and have the requisite skill sets to effectively navigate in this global market.
Program Goals
- Foster a diverse and interactive scientific community
- Broaden minority participation in the science technology and mathematical fields
- Encourage undergraduate research
- Increase the number of advanced degrees obtained by minority students
Program Benefits
- Student stipend up to $4000 for summer
- Faculty-student partnership to conduct cutting-edge research in the STEM fields
- Access to available summer research opportunities and professional conferences
- Research preparation tools such as computer programming workshops and math tutorials
- Graduate school preparation workshops
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Accepted Voorhees College student with plans to enroll in the college
- Interest in pursuing a science degree
- Completed application and a GPA of 3.0
- Excellent work ethic and attitude toward science
