HS-eSMART Program
ABOUT THE eSMART CAMP
The Voorhees College High School Environmental Science, Mathematics and Related Technology (eSMART) Day Camp Program is designed to improve Environmental Science education for high school students and increase the number of students pursuing degrees in Environmental Science, Mathematics, Biology, and Computer Science. The High School eSMART Day Camp Program provides three-weeks of full-day enrichment activities with course studies in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields and associated laboratory experiments along with personal development, social development, and recreational activities on the campus of Voorhees College. This program will also include services and strategies designed to retain these participants in STEM majors when they matriculate at the College.

LOCATION
Voorhees College, Denmark, South Carolina
DATES
July 1 to July 23, 2010
COST
FREE to students entering the 9th-12th grades who meet the qualification requirements.
STIPEND
Each student will receive a weekly stipend of $500. Attendance at all sessions is required. Students must attend each camp activity and arrive on time for full compensation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Students entering grades 9-12 with enthusiasm for mathematics and science as well as a strong mathematical aptitude are encouraged to apply. THE SELECTION PROCESS
Selection of students is based on a composite review of the student essay, teacher recommendations, and test scores. Applications with completed teacher recommendations must be postmarked no later than May 20, 2010. Accepted applicants will be notified by June 10. Upon acceptance, you will receive further information about the program. Please do not make any inquiries before this date.
