ABOUT VOORHEES UNIVERSITY
In celebration of its 125th year of existence on April 7, 2022, Voorhees College was renamed Voorhees University to honor founder, Elizabeth Evelyn Wight. Voorhees University is a private, diverse, historically black, coeducational, liberal arts, baccalaureate degree-granting institution affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Position: Graduate Admissions Counselor/ Recruiter
Department/Division: Admissions/Enrollment Management
Salary Range: $45,000-$48,000
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Position Duration: Full-time
Position Schedule: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday (Extended hours, weekends, and travel may be required)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Design and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract prospective students, with a focus on graduate program candidates.
• Represent Voorhees University at various events, including graduate school fairs, community gatherings, and professional conferences, to promote graduate programs.
• Communicate with potential applicants through multiple channels, email, phone calls, virtual meetings—to provide information about graduate programs and the admissions process.
• Guide applicants through the admissions process, ensuring they understand requirements and deadlines, and assist in the evaluation of application materials.
• Work closely with the Office of Graduate Studies, academic departments, and other university offices to coordinate recruitment efforts and ensure a seamless admissions experience.
• Maintain accurate records of prospective student interactions and recruitment activities, utilizing the university’s admissions software systems.
• Prepare regular reports on recruitment activities, applicant trends, and enrollment statistics to inform strategic planning.
• Assist with the planning and executing programs sponsored by the Office of Admissions & Recruitment such as High School Visitation Day, Summer Orientation, campus tours, etc.
• Conducts tours, lectures, exhibits and seminars for prospective graduate students and/or parents.
• Maintains telephone and written contact with students who have been admitted, but not yet registered.
• Assists with coordination of out-of-state recruitment within the CACRAO zones, to include alumni chapters.
• Counsels and guides prospects and applicants regarding the graduate admissions process and requirements, with continued responsibility for those who are admitted throughout the matriculation process.
• Schedules and conducts sessions or home visits with student to assist in formulating educational and occupational goals, to include financing their education.
• May be some assistance needed at times with undergraduate recruitment
• Perform all other duties as required to support the Mission on the University, its enrollment goals and the department.

EDUCATION
• A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred, especially in fields related to higher education administration, marketing, or communications.
• Prior experience in admissions, recruitment, or related areas within higher education is highly desirable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Standard Office Environment
• Extended evenings and weekends and travel may be required
• Willingness to travel for recruitment events and outreach activities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of one year of successful experience in the area of student recruitment or student services.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, proficiency in data management systems, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
