ABOUT VOORHEES UNIVERSITY

In celebration of its 125th year of existence on April 7, 2022, Voorhees College was renamed Voorhees University to honor founder, Elizabeth Evelyn Wight. Voorhees University is a private, diverse, historically black, coeducational, liberal arts, baccalaureate degree-granting institution affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Located in rural Denmark, South Carolina, the University serves traditional and nontraditional students primarily from South Carolina and the southeastern region of the United States; however, seeks to expand our reach both nationally and internationally. Position: Auxiliary Graduate Faculty (EdD) – K-12 Focused
Division: Academic Affairs
Salary Range: $30,000
FLSA Classification: Salaried, Exempt
Position Type/Duration: Half Time/12 months
Position Schedule: Courses scheduled as needed: 8:00 am – 9:00 pm, Monday – Saturday

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Teach core and K-12 concentration courses in the Ed.D. program.
• Implement effective instructional strategies to achieve course learning objectives.
• Contribute to ongoing assessment and continuous improvement of the Ed.D. program.
• Mentor and advise doctoral candidates throughout their program of study.
• Serve on dissertation committees, providing timely and constructive feedback on manuscripts.
• Uphold the highest standards of integrity and expectations for all students while offering useful feedback for improvement.
• Develop and/or maintain an active research and publishing agenda in higher education or another academic discipline.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Department, School, or University.

EDUCATION

• Must have an earned doctorate degree (PhD or EdD) in educational leadership or educational administration from an accredited university

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in a higher education setting/agency.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Three (3) years of teaching experience in an accredited online program.
• Leadership experience in higher education at least as the department chair, director, or dean levels.
• Experience in academic advisement and guiding Ed.D. students in their research.
• Prior teaching experience in an accredited doctoral (Ed.D. or Ph.D.) program.
• Prior experience serving as a dissertation chair or dissertation committee member.
