ABOUT VOORHEES UNIVERSITY
Voorhees University is a private, diverse, historically black, coeducational, liberal arts, baccalaureate degree-granting institution affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Located in rural Denmark, South Carolina, the University serves traditional and nontraditional students primarily from South Carolina and the southeastern region of the United States. Position: Coordinator of Engagement Initiatives and Student Leadership
Department/Division: Student Engagement/Student Affairs
Salary Range: $38,500 – $45,000
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Position Type/Duration: Grant Funded/Full Time/12 months
Position Schedule: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (some extended hours and travel may be required)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Student Leadership and Engagement
• Implement and coordinate a comprehensive student leadership development training series that includes identifying campus and community officials that would serve as facilitators.
• Implement and coordinate comprehensive and diverse campus-wide initiatives, programming, practices, and services that support undergraduates’ first/second years, transition, international experience, and success (i.e., Summer Bridge, New Student Orientation, Family Weekends, Alumni Lecture Series, Lyceum, Welcome Weeks, etc.)
• Assist with the supervision and facility management of the University E-Gaming Center and the student employees.
• Develop, manage, and disseminate departmental calendars, including the monthly student calendar of events and activities.
• Assist as a co-advisor for Student Government Association
• Identify and participate in local and nationally sponsored professional development opportunities for First-Year Experience, New Student Orientation, International students, transitions and retention, student engagement, clubs/organizations, new trends, and best practices.
• Serve as the Office of Student Affairs liaison with the Information Technology (IT) and Media Relations Departments on various department-related comprehensive plans, strategies, materials, content, website development, and other multimedia components supporting the University’s strategic objectives and transformational goals.
• Manage and administer the university identification card process for faculty, staff, and students.
• Assist with developing and disseminating various needs-based interest assessment tools to determine student co-curricular involvement opportunities and programs.
• Supervise the University Student Lounge/Bowling Alley and the student employees.
• Serve as the Advisor to the Student Programming Group and the Royal Court
• Develop, manage, and disseminate departmental calendars, including the monthly student calendar of events and activities.
• Monitor and update the department’s content on the college’s monitors to ensure accurate and current information.
• Serve on Specialty Campus and Community Projects/Committees
• Train and supervise student leaders and work-study students with departmental-related tasks and assignments.
• Monitor and update office social media platforms (i.e., Instagram)
• Monitor and update Student/Staff Time Submission
Greek Life
• Serve as an on-campus co-advisor for Greek Life and its affiliated undergraduate chapters, governing councils, and executive boards (i.e., The National Pan-Hellenic Council, NPHC).
• Assist with implementing and coordinating Greek Life campus and community-wide events, training, workshops, philanthropies, and activities to include but not limited to Greek Week, Recruitment Week, and National Hazing Prevention Week.
• Assist with implementing and coordinating campus-wide initiatives and programs focusing on diversity and risk management, anti-hazing, sexual assault, and other relevant areas that would satisfy Title IX regulations.
• Assist with implementing and coordinating workshops and training for on and off-campus advisors.
• Assist with coordinating the formal recruitment processes with all NPHC-affiliated organizations.
Other
• Work an unconventional schedule, including evenings and weekends, to support campus programs and activities.
• Attend scheduled Departmental meetings, retreats, and other professional development opportunities.
• Serve on various campus and community committees as deemed necessary
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Student Affairs/Athletics or designee to support the University’s Mission and the Department’s goals.

EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree in Student Affairs or related field preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 1 – 2 years of related experience required.
• Experience in leadership and advisory roles with fraternity or sorority organizations
• Must be able to organize, schedule, and implement activities to benefit the campus community.
• Membership within a nationally recognized Greek Lettered Organization is preferred.
• Experience in graphics and multimedia design and management
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and other related marketing and communication programs and software
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Construct and maintain significant relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the group’s national offices.
• Experience with developing and maintaining budgets.
• Working knowledge of college student development theory and a solid commitment to the enhancement of the intellectual, cultural, social, physical, and moral development of students
• Maintain high professional standards and attitudes toward customer service.
