ABOUT VOORHEES UNIVERSITY
In celebration of its 125th year of existence on April 7, 2022, Voorhees College was renamed Voorhees University to honor founder, Elizabeth Evelyn Wight. Voorhees University is a private, diverse, historically black, coeducational, liberal arts, baccalaureate degree-granting institution affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Located in rural Denmark, South Carolina, the University serves traditional and nontraditional students primarily from South Carolina and the southeastern region of the United States; however, seeks to expand our reach both nationally and internationally. Position Duration: Full-time/9 month
Position Schedule: Courses scheduled as needed: 8:00 am – 9:00 pm Monday – Saturday
RANK AND SALARY RANGE
Rank and salary will be determined by the needs of the University, verified credentials, and experience in teaching, research, and service of the candidate.
• Assistant Professor — $55,000 – $59,000 per academic year
• Associate Professor — $60,000 – $64,000 per academic year
• Professor — $65,000 – $69,000 per academic year
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Teach core, concentration, research/methodology, and dissertation courses in the EdD program.
- Implement effective instructional strategies to achieve course learning objectives.
- Contribute to ongoing assessment and continuous improvement of the EdD program.
- Mentor and advise doctoral candidates throughout their program of study.
- Chair and serve on dissertation committees, providing timely and constructive feedback manuscripts.
- Uphold the highest standards of integrity and expectations for all students while offering useful feedback for improvement.
- Maintain an active research and publishing agenda in PK-12 and/or higher education.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the department.
EDUCATION
- Earned doctorate (PhD or EdD) in Educational Leadership or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in a leadership role in PK-12 and/or higher education.
- Prior full-time teaching experience in an accredited doctoral (EdD or PhD) program.
- At least three (3) years of dissertation service experience as a chair, committee member, and/or research methodologist.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Three (3) or more years of full-time teaching experience on an accredited online doctoral (EdD or PhD) program.
- Leadership experience in PK-12 settings, district offices, or higher education.
- Experience in academic advisement and guiding EdD students in their research.
- Three (3) or more years of dissertation service experience as a chair, committee member, and/or research methodologist (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods).
- A demonstrated active research agenda with current publications in peer-reviewed journals, books, or other publications.
- Experience developing EdD courses aligned with Quality Matters standards.
