Position: Library Assistant
Department/Division: Library & Museum Services/Academic Affairs
Salary Range: $12.00 – $15.00 per hour
FLSA Classification: NonExempt
Position Duration: Part-time
Position Schedule: Variable (weekends may be required)


  • Reports to the Library Director.
  • Maintains current periodicals and newspapers.
  • Assists with the routine processing duties of the Technical Services Department.
  • Assists in the check-out of books and reserve materials, when necessary.
  • Assists in maintaining Reference Department statistics.
  • Supervises Student Library Assistants in the maintenance of periodical back files.
  • Provides other user services, as scheduled and assigned.
  • Retrieves library mail from mailroom, daily.
  • Assists in the provision of user services during evening and weekend hours.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.


  • Standard Office Environment


  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or a high school diploma and 3 years of experience in the related field.


  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with students, faculty and staff
  • Basic computer skills.
