Denmark, S.C. – Xavier Willcox, Mr. Voorhees University 2022-2023 served as the guest speaker for the University’s Chapel Service on February 21, in the St. Philip’s Chapel. The senior business administration major encouraged his fellow peers to be careful of the company they keep, because snakes will always strike when you least expect it.
Using the biblical text, Acts 28:4-7, as reference, Xavier analogized dealing with snakes and friends. “I don’t know if any of you know about snakes, but they bite you and strike you. People will write you off quicker than they will write you in. As the old songwriter once said, ‘everybody ain’t your friend; everybody ain’t your partner.’ You must know who to listen to,” he said.
He challenged students to stay alert and stay influential as they continue along their journey of life. He said he felt it was important to deliver a message that would inspire the Voorhees University family to make wise decisions while being a positive light to those in whom they come in contact. After graduation, the young mogul plans to work with his family business and embark on generational wealth.
