Voorhees University Announces Appointment of Dr. Edward L. Hill as New Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Denmark, S.C., – Voorhees University is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Edward L. Hill as its new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, effective July 8, 2025. A seasoned higher education leader and advocate for student success, Dr. Hill brings more than two decades of experience in academic leadership, strategic planning, and institutional advancement to the role.

Dr. Hill joins Voorhees University following an impressive tenure as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Provost at Talladega College, where he also served as Interim President. His leadership at Texas A&M University-Central Texas and at several Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)—including Harris-Stowe State University, Wilberforce University and Fort Valley State University—reflects a career-long commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and equity in education.

Throughout his career, Dr. Hill has successfully led strategic planning initiatives, secured millions in grant funding, developed high-impact academic programs, and championed student-centered policies. He is also a recognized thought leader, having published extensively on educational equity, African American male achievement, and culturally responsive teaching.

Dr. Hill holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from South Carolina State University, an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from Columbia College, and a B.A. in Elementary Education from Morehouse College. He has participated in national leadership development programs such as the Executive Leadership Academy and the Becoming A Provost Academy.
