Voorhees University Approved To Offer Doctorate Degree in Education

Denmark, SC – Voorhees University is excited to announce the launch of its new Doctorate Degree in Education (EdD), offering specialized tracks to tailor the educational journey in PK-12 and Higher Education Leadership. Official approval was recently received from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

The Doctor of Education in Leadership program provides concentrations in PK-12 and Higher Education Leadership, allowing students to choose the path that best suits their career goals. Courses are offered online and in 8-week cohorts, providing flexibility for working professionals. Enrollment is now open, and the first cohort will begin September 30th.

“Today marks a significant milestone for Voorhees University as we embark on offering our first Doctorate Degree in Education. This achievement reaffirms our commitment to nurturing highly qualified graduates who integrate intellect and faith, dedicated to lifelong learning, healthy living, societal progress, and a steadfast faith in God” remarked Dr. Ronnie Hopkins, Voorhees President.

The EdD program at Voorhees University aims to develop, advance, promote, and disseminate knowledge to position students as leaders, teachers, faculty, advocates, and consultants within both the public and private sectors. “We are proud that Voorhees is now able to offer a program designed to enhance degrees and credentials, increase knowledge, and provide further credibility within the educational thought environment” states Dr. Angela W. Peters, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs.

PK-12: This track is specifically designed for individuals with work experience in traditional public, private, and online PK-12 education environments. It focuses on preparing students to become leaders and innovators in early childhood and secondary education.

Higher Education Leadership: This track targets education professionals seeking to advance their knowledge, skills, and careers within 4-year, 2-year, public, and private collegiate/university settings. It aims to prepare graduates for leadership roles in higher education administration.
