DENMARK, S.C. – Voorhees University joins the nation in recognizing the extraordinary leadership and lasting impact of Dr. Michael L. Lomax following the announcement that he will conclude his tenure as president and chief executive officer of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) in June 2027.
Since assuming leadership in 2004, Dr. Lomax has helped transform UNCF into one of the nation’s leading advocates for educational equity and student success, raising billions of dollars to expand opportunities for students attending historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). His unwavering commitment to higher education has strengthened institutions across the country and helped countless students achieve their dreams through access to quality education.
As a proud UNCF member institution, Voorhees University celebrates Dr. Lomax’s remarkable legacy and extends its sincere appreciation for his decades of visionary leadership and steadfast dedication to advancing HBCUs.

UNCF announced the planned leadership transition as part of a long-term succession plan developed in partnership with its Board of Directors to ensure continuity and sustained progress in advancing its mission.
