Voorhees University Partners with Des Moines University for Graduate Degree  Opportunities in Health Professions

Voorhees University is pleased to announce a new partnership with Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences, establishing a pathway for Voorhees students to pursue advanced degrees in various health professions at DMU. This agreement provides students with a seamless transition from undergraduate studies at Voorhees to graduate programs at DMU, enabling them to further their education and training in the health field.

Under this partnership, Voorhees students can apply to a range of advanced degree programs at Des Moines University, including the Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, Doctor of Occupational Therapy, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, Master of Science in Anatomy, Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences, College of Health Sciences Graduate Programs, Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, and the Health Professions Advanced Summer Scholars Program.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to providing Voorhees students with exceptional opportunities for academic and professional growth,” said Voorhees University President Hopkins. “By collaborating with Des Moines University, we are empowering our students to pursue careers in health professions that will not only enhance their futures but also contribute to improving the well-being of communities nationwide.”

“DMU’s partnership with Voorhees not only increases access to health science degrees, but also follows our mission to educate a diverse group of highly competent and compassionate students who will improve lives in our global community,” says Angela L. Walker Franklin, Ph.D., President and CEO of DMU. “Together, we are expanding our educational horizons and proving our commitment to inclusivity, innovation and academic excellence. We are paving the way to a brighter future for all students.”

Voorhees students interested in these programs must apply and gain admission separately to each institution, as the admissions processes for Voorhees and DMU are independently administered. Applications for the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program at DMU can begin as early as the summer between a student’s sophomore and junior years at Voorhees. Both institutions have specific requirements for courses, credit hours, and grades that must be fulfilled before degree conferral.

This agreement aligns with Voorhees University’s mission to prepare students for professional careers while fostering lifelong learning, healthy living, and a commitment to improving their communities and the world. Similarly, DMU’s mission to improve lives through the education of compassionate health professionals complements this collaboration, offering students the chance to thrive in a diverse global society.
