Denmark, S.C. — Voorhees University is honored to announce a generous commitment of$450,000 over three years from the Molly Munger and Steve English Charitable Fund. This unrestricted funding, given at $150,000 annually, will support general operations and strengthen the university’s capacity to serve students and advance its mission.
The gift follows a recent campus visit by attorneys Molly Munger and Steve English, who were deeply moved by the university’s rich history, dynamic leadership, and the resilience and excellence embodied by its students. Their experience—highlighted by a powerful screening of a documentary on founder Elizabeth Evelyn Wright, a comprehensive campus tour, and meaningful conversations with student leaders—inspired them to make a long-term investment in the institution.
“We left Voorhees with a deep appreciation for the inspiring work being done to nurture and uplift students through love, support, and high expectations,” said Molly Munger, co-founder of the charitable fund.
The Molly Munger and Steve English Charitable Fund is known for its commitment to educational equity, social justice, and empowering historically underserved communities. This new funding for Voorhees University will offer critical flexibility for the institution’s leadership to direct resources to areas of greatest need, from academic innovation to student success initiatives and campus development.
“This extraordinary gift reflects the shared values and vision between Voorhees and the Munger-English Charitable Fund,” said President Ronnie Hopkins. “It will directly support our continued efforts to cultivate student success and institutional excellence in alignment with the legacy of our founder, Elizabeth Evelyn Wright.”
