Dr. Butler-McIntyre is widely recognized for her transformative leadership and dedication to education and community service. As the 24th national president of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., she has been a trailblazer in advancing educational opportunities and social justice initiatives.

A retired human resources director for the Jefferson Parish School System in Harvey, Louisiana, Dr. Butler-McIntyre’s distinguished career includes supervising over 3,500 employees and serving as a kindergarten teacher, assistant principal, summer school principal, and personnel administrator. Her professional achievements extend to higher education, where she served as executive director of the Tech-Prep Summer Program at Delgado Community College and as assistant coordinator of field experiences at the University of New Orleans.

Dr. Butler-McIntyre’s academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Dillard University, a Master of Education from the University of New Orleans, and an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Christian Bible College of Louisiana.

Her service has earned her numerous accolades, including appointments to the Board of Trustees for the Christopher Columbus Fellowship Foundation by President Barack Obama, board memberships with the National Alliance of Black School Educators and the NAACP, and recognition as founding president of the Algiers-Gretna NAACP branch.

During her tenure as president of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Dr. Butler-McIntyre led efforts that resulted in the naming of an elementary school in Cherette, Haiti, in her honor. She continues her legacy through affiliations with the National Council of Negro Women, The Links, Inc., and the National Association of University Women.
