Voorhees University proudly announces that Michael Tatnall, a rising junior from Atlanta, Georgia, has emerged victorious at the 2024 NAIA Men’s Outdoor National Championship in the men’s triple jump. This incredible achievement was marked by Tatnall’s impressive leap of 50’11.75″ (15.85 meters), setting a new benchmark for excellence in the sport.

Tatnall, a Sports Management major, has been a standout athlete under the expert guidance of Coach Jeffery Hughes. “His dedication and hard work have culminated in this significant victory, which not only highlights his talent but also the strength of Voorhees University’s athletic program,” states Coach Hughes.

Reflecting on his win, Tatnall shared, “The national championship was a lot of fun and a great experience overall. After winning, I was very proud of myself and felt that it was well deserved as I put in a lot of work prior leading up to the competition.”

Looking to the future, Tatnall is optimistic about his athletic career and has set ambitious goals to keep improving each year and continue winning national championships. Tatnall also expressed his aspirations beyond collegiate athletics, stating, “I would hope to stay somewhat close to the sports industry and start coaching or even become a personal trainer in the future. But if track & field keeps working out for me, I would work to become a part of the Olympic team for my event.”

“Michael Tatnall’s victory at the 2024 NAIA Outdoor National Championship is a testament to his skill, determination, and the support of Voorhees University’s athletic department. His journey serves as an inspiration to his peers and a point of pride for the entire Voorhees community,” expressed Charlene Johnson, Voorhees Athletic Director.
