Voorhees University’s VU Tiger Pantry Honored with Jenzabar Impact Award

Denmark, S.C. – Voorhees University proudly announces that its VU Tiger Pantry has been awarded third place in the prestigious 2025 Jenzabar Impact Awards, a national recognition of programs that significantly enhance student success and community well-being. The honor includes a $5,000 award to help advance the university’s mission of supporting student needs beyond the classroom.

Selected from a competitive pool of nominees nationwide, the VU Tiger Pantry was recognized for its outstanding commitment to student enrichment, food security, and community engagement. The Pantry, operated by a dedicated team of staff, students, and volunteers, provides free, nutritious food and essential supplies to Voorhees students experiencing food insecurity. Since its inception, the VU Tiger Pantry has served hundreds of students, offering not just sustenance, but dignity, support, and a sense of belonging.

The Jenzabar Impact Award honors individuals, departments, or programs at Jenzabar client institutions that demonstrate excellence in promoting student success and development. Nominees are evaluated on outcomes, creativity, and extraordinary commitment beyond their assigned responsibilities. Voorhees University’s VU Tiger Pantry stood out for its measurable impact, collaborative spirit, and dedication to ensuring that every student has access to basic needs—an essential foundation for academic and personal achievement.

“This recognition is a testament to our university’s unwavering commitment to student support,” said Voorhees University President Hopkins. “The VU Tiger Pantry exemplifies the kind of innovative, compassionate programming that makes a real difference in our students’ lives.”

The award was formally presented during the Jenzabar Annual Meeting (JAM) 2025 in Nashville, Tennessee, on Wednesday, May 28, where Voorhees University was celebrated among other leading institutions driving student-centered innovation.

With the $5,000 award, Voorhees University plans to expand the Pantry’s offerings, improve storage and accessibility, and develop new outreach initiatives to ensure that no Tiger goes hungry.
